After the World Cup
To assure that we maintain the perceived economic impetus that the Football World Cup has generated our President, Jacob Zuma, has urged us to pray and then throw a national party.
It would seem that a Cargo Cult mentality prevails.

A Poor Show
That's my involvement with football over with until the next World Cup. As for FIFA I hope they never return and I pity the next country to host the World Cup.

The Boks go down to a better team today. Damn. The only thing worse than this is the new Haka by the All Blacks. They are so precious about this little ritual. Oh, and yes, why do the AB supporters have to boo everthing that is not done by their team? Is this a deep seated inferiority complex?

Police have found someone who 'fits the description of Raoul Moat' hiding. If I fitted the description of Raoul Moat I'd also be hiding.

They say that Rome wasn't built in a day. In fact it's still not finished despite many promises by the contractor.
This seems to be the norm with contractors. As the project nears it's end they get slower and slower. It's like dividing something continuously by two. It never gets there.
This meant another trip today into one of the local townships. The contractor had promised to be sufficiently complete to allow me to prepare what is called a 'snag' list. This is a list of outstanding items requiring attention to compete the job. There was no surprise to find he was not even close to being finished.
This means another trip out into the sticks next week. Each one is an adventure with random shootings, scant regard for traffic regulations, goats and cattle on the loose, water leaking from illegal connections and the attendant filth. Anyway I managed to return safely which hasn't always been the case......but I'll tell you about that later.
Well who is it to be - Spain or Holland? Not being an avid football fan I'm not willing to express an opinion on this. But last night's game between Spain and Germany nearly filled our new stadium. I wonder if it will ever have this number of spectators in the future. Possibly not unless rugby is somehow coerced to move there. Football on it's own wouldn't do it.
