My African Dream
A national newspaper, the Sowetan, has been flighting a radio ad that is a comment on the the South African reality. A reality where most of us live with unrelenting subliminal fear. Fear of noises in the night. Fear of 'smash and grab' robberies when we stop in our cars at intersections. Fear that we may not see our family members again when they go off to work in the morning. Fear of our car breaking down on a freeway and leaving us prey to thugs, thieves and murderers. Fear of becoming old alone because our children have left the country. Knowledge that the stress of life here is ruining our health.
I understand that this ad has drawn a lot of comment and touched many a raw nerve.
You be the judge. Listen!
